From Principal to the Parents...

Sunday, April 26, 2020

Dear Parents,

After the schools were closed in accordance with the safety measures taken by the Ministry of Education, we have been in constant touch with the students via the ‘WESLEY Info’ text message system. By now we have completed 3 phases of work through worksheets/video lessons as well as via online teaching / live video screening for the GCE Ordinary and Advanced level classes. We are in the process of preparing for the 4th phase which will be communicated to you all as soon as possible. We are glad that we are in line with the syllabus and that our students are not missing their lessons, even though the school is closed. If any of you have not received the text messages sent so far, please send an e-mail to: principal@wesleycollege.lk, indicating the grade of your son and the contact no.

We do hope and pray that our students are safe with their families and are abiding by the safety measures taken by the government officials during this Pandemic.

At this crucial period of time when the whole world has declared emergency, we call upon the Wesley fraternity to stay safe and abide by the quarantine regulations. Let us be appreciative of the measures taken by the government to eradicate the Covid 19 pandemic and co-operate in every possible way. Let us be mindful of the vulnerable and be a beacon of light at this period of darkness which has swept over the world so unexpectedly.

We are aware of the many challenges faced by families while the children are at home. Some of you must be quite disturbed with their uncertain questions with regard to COVID 19, the childhood which is meant to be enjoyed is surrounded by fear and uncertainty. Meanwhile we are in the process of getting ready for the post pandemic situation before reopening the school and as well as after reopening the school to support children in every possible way.  With the received responses from all parents through the survey on our online teaching & learning process, we may change our plans in certain areas and sections of the school. In this critical situation the Chaplaincy team of Wesley has assured their willingness to speak to any student who may wish to share his concern / anxiety during this lockdown period. The students may feel free to call either Bro. Piumal Perera on 0778718372 or Bro. Roy Everton on 0775178573.

As your child passes through this critical period, help him to understand the importance of managing and appreciating whatever is available. Situations such as these will help our children to stand strong amidst the storm. We assure our students of our prayers during this challenging moment.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL

ORA ET LABORA
